Hey guys,
For months I've been a silent anonymous reader of these forums. Didn't have much to contribute but did learn a lot. So thank you, everyone. Thanks to bb and others for this wonderful platform.
Now that I've started my GMAT journey, feel like documenting it as its happening. Have made (and intend to stick to) a grueling 2 months schedule with 2 full tests every weekend (Sat and Sunday).
I'm your average South Asian male engineer, with some international work exposure at a top investment bank, CFA, FRM, founded a fintech firm which was eventually acquired and now working as the product manager for the digital platform of India's leading NBFC. Insane hours - don't ask

Targeting 770+. Test scheduled on 8th July. Hopefully through this topic and subsequent posts, I'll be able to maintain my sanity and maybe, get some encouragement from the community
Gave GMATPrep 1 and MGMAT 1 to assess pre-preparation scores.
GMATPrep1: 720 (Q50, V38)
MGMAT1: Could not finish in time, was distracted etc but putting excuses aside - 590 (Q36, V35)

You mentioned one particular detail about your study plans that should probably be "adjusted." When you take a CAT, if your goal is to receive a realistic score assessment, then you really have to be strict about HOW you take the CAT. The more the 'CAT-taking event' deviates from what you'll face on Test Day, the more likely the score is to be inaccurate (and in most cases, that means "inflated"). As such, you should make sure to take a NEW CAT each time, with the Essay/IR sections, away from your home, at the same time of day as your Official GMAT, etc.
Beyond those details, it's important to remember that taking lots of CATs will NOT make you a better Test Taker. A CAT is really a 'measuring device' - when used correctly, it will give you a realistic score and help define your strengths and weaknesses, but it will NOT help you to fix any of those weaknesses. To raise your scores, you have to put in the necessary practice and repetitions. The CAT will show you whether your studies are helping you to improve or not. As such, you really shouldn't take more than 1 FULL CAT per week.

Hey Rich, thanks for the feedback.
My aim is to get re-acquainted with standardized testing. Have been away from tests for years now.
Also, will be taking all tests at 9am, in sync with the actual test timings. Planning to revise the concepts and practice questions over 40 days and reserve the last couple of weeks or so going through practice notes / revising difficult concepts, revisiting incorrect answers etc.
I majored in math and as such very comfortable with the quant section (need to increase speed though). Verbal is going to be my Achilles's heel - planning to do a 30:70 split.

That's an excellent GMATPrep score. Keep in mind though, that your quant and verbal scores are very similar (in percentile terms, high 80s).
(3 unanswered - surprised to see Q50 - should have been lesser IMO. Verbal - rigorous practice with SC and basic grammar concepts are paying off. Still struggling with RC)
Verbal - More confident now with RC passages, still a long way to go. Veritas team needs to work on their Verbal section though. Felt a lot of questions were ambiguous with suspect answers. Very different from official questions.
