Hi - I am targeting the following schools for Executive MBA:
MIT, Haas, Wharton, NYU, Booth, Kellogg.
I have great work experience (working professional for 14 yrs), which is why I am looking to get an E-MBA. My college GPA was terrible (it was college after all!), so my thought process was to do well on the GMAT to overcome this blemish on the application. I feel this would be my only weakness in the application process (I have published research, press releases, have great professional experience, can get good recommendation letters and overall have a good story to tell on the essays as well).
My problem is that is that I am stuck in the low 40s on the quant section (range between 39-41). My biggest problem seems to be time management, and not applying shortcuts. If the test was not timed, I am very confident that my quant scores would be much higher. I have taken the Kaplan classes, and on the un-timed quizzes I do very well - however in the CATs my score seems to be stuck in the range I mention above....I always find myself short on time on the last 10 questions and have to blindly select answers to get to the last question (i.e. don't even have time to make an educated guess). Any suggestions for improvement? Perhaps a tutor?
Would the admissions officer even look at the GMAT and GPA in light of the other (stronger) components of my application?
