IMO C. Usage of have is incorrect. which in C & them in A are both correct. So the modifier decides the answer & thats C. Its the opening thats called the taste pore & not the taste bud.

Between A and C
C is better than A.
A looks little run-on compared to C.
I have question.. "them" or "which" in options A or C.. refers to what?? tast buds or taste cells.
This is why probably "them" in A is incorrect, and C correct.
Them can refer to taste buds or taste cells.
Which refers to taste buds.

Come on guys! Why not E? Grammatically E is correct and it also preserves the meaning of the sentence. It is not the taste buds that have pores but the 50-100 cells, each one, having pores that open on the top of the taste bud (this fact was a big hint given by the author that it is not the actual taste bud that he is talking about in the latter part of the sentence, but the cells that he is talking about). Edit: Sorry, I misread the choice E. It is grammatically incorrect! A should be the answer.
A. them has fingerlike projections poking through the opening located at the top of the taste bud called the taste pore misplaced modifier C. which has fingerlike projections poking through the opening, called the taste pore, located at the top of taste bud
