Hi all ,
I have been working at a Big4 as a tax analyst for 4years now . and was wondering if doing an MBA in Finance and get into management consulting (Financial planning and advising) be a good idea ?
And from point of B-schools would a Tax Analyst be given any importance or treated at par with an accounting job ?

You can definitely go for MBA if you are really interested in consulting. In fact, most of the MBA applicants will be aiming to switch their career post MBA. So, it is not a problem for you. Don’t get too technical about Tax Analyst vs Accounting role. What matters are your achievements at your current role. If you can weave a story to showcase your future MBA goal and connect with your present role, that might work as well. Speak to few people who have done MBA with your background. This might give you some pointers. Write to adcoms. They are generally very friendly. Good luck.
