10 years ago sum of 8 = 231 3 years after one died of age 60 and born = 231+8(3)- 60= 195 3 years later same = 195+ 8(3) - 60 = 159 Now = 159+8(4) = 191 Average = 191/8 = 23.875~ 24

10 years ago: - The ages of the members of a joint family of eight people added up to = 231 years.
3 years later (7 years ago): - The ages of the members of a joint family of eight people added up to = 231 + 3*8 - 60 = 195 years
6 years later (4 years ago):- The ages of the members of a joint family of eight people added up to = 195 + 3*8 - 60 = 161 years
Presently : - The ages of the members of a joint family of eight people added up to = 161 + 4*8 = 193 years The current average age of this eight-member joint family is nearest to = 193/8 = 24 1/8 years
