Hello GMAT Club!
I have been lurking here for a few weeks and finally decided to register. I realize GMAT Club has helped thousands achieve their goals and I am excited to call this community home for the foreseeable future.
After reading the GMAT Study Plan for GMAT Novices, I have decided to purchase: Foundations of GMAT Math: GMAT Strategy Supplement,
Manhattan GMAT Set of 8 Strategy Guides, and
OG 12.
Will these materials, in combination with
GMAT Club tests,
error log, and toolkit (which as an avid Iphone user I plan on purchasing) be enough to carry me past 700? Assuming I am dedicated, of course.
I am in no rush to take the exam, my goal is to break 700. I feel a goal of this caliber will play an essential role in overcoming a low UGrad GPA of 2.79 considering I wish to enroll in an Elite school.
My UGrad GPA suffered largely in part due to illness. My Freshman year of college I was very sick and lost my entire first semester save 4 credits. Second semester freshman year I was tasked with rectifying Incomplete classes along with taking a full course load. Unfortunately, I relapsed 3 more times throughout my collegiate career. The one semester I was not sick, I earned a GPA of 3.5. In order to graduate on time I took classes during the winter and summer months. While cramming credits may not have been the most beneficial toward my GPA, at the time I was more concerned with graduating with my peers, getting a job, and moving on. Couple all this with a family divorce and I consider myself lucky I even graduated, in four years none the less.
I have solid, albeit short, work experience (graduated 2009) in a booming industry where MBA's provide great opportunity.
Any insight is appreciated. I have read various GMAT success stories of other members with low GPA's who have gone to great lengths in achieving their goals. I plan on doing the same. Although I am not interested in attending an Ultra-Elite school, being admitted into an Elite program will certainly prove an uphill battle.
I welcome any and all input other members may have to offer. I look forward to participating in this community.
