Hi,

Experience stats that one has to review their test results ,but how many hours does it take ? I recently took MGMAT CAT1 and it took me 3-4 hours to review math section and 1.5-2 hours to review verbal ,Is this normal?

Mind this is only for wrong answers, i score 650 in that test..

are there any best ways to review the results effectively. Review I mean the content review not analyzing other stuff like number of wrongs and time, thats additional but the basic question review..

Please let me know, thanks !

On my MGMAT Cat I got around the same as you first time... and it took the same amount of time for me to review. But when I say review I do the following:
1) Redo every question I got wrong (without looking at explanation) in an attempt to get it right second time round
2) Read the explanation to see if it made sense, some of them were just silly errors, some it took longer so a question might take me 5-10 mins after i've done it, read explanation and taken notes.
3) Do this for all questions I got right but essentially guessed.
Takes me even longer for Verbal because I re-read the RC's slowly if there are any wrong there and for SC I try to identify all errors, not just the one that I need to determine the right answer.

But I guess if you're confident and you just made silly errors it will take you much less time.

Hey I am exactly doing the same.. yes this is time consuming but a best way to nail down things i guess. My exam is on nov 20th,so I have 6 more weeks to complete mgmat cats and gmat prep cats, i have kaplan cd but I dont think I will have time to do those other tests, i did one and scored 540 :( , surprisngly kaplan test dint take me extra time to review..completed both quant and verbal in couple of hours...

Really depends on what you do and how diligent you are about it. 3-4 hours on 15 questions sounds longer than I would have used, but in this game, the longer the better. Sure! It will start taking you less time with each consecutive test, so don't worry about investing this time - you are putting it into improving your scores and mistake analysis is one of the best ways to address problem areas.

It all comes down to what you think the best use of your study time is. I prefer to go over things and make sure i completely understand concepts. Some people prefer to just pump out questions

MGMAT's rule of thumb is 2:1 ratio for time review : time testing. I think it is much more valuable to review what you did wrong in detail than it is to do more questions.
