Hi Sri07,

Have you already exhausted the official MBA.com practice exams?

Yes and still didn't improve my score. So I purchased 800Score.com tests cause I thought they are cheap.. but after giving one of the quant tests I am in doubt if they are even remotely representative of my GMAT abilities.

Should I just do them like practice tests and NOT look at the scores?

Hi Sri, just a word of caution. If your scores aren't improving, then doing more mock tests isn't going to move your score upwards! You need to understand the conceptual gaps in your preparation and methodically work on them, before re-starting to give mock tests.

If you could let us know the score-splits you have been getting on your official mocks, it will help us give more contextual advice.

My best score so far has been 580 Q40 V27

I realized that even though I had gone through once all the concepts. I wasn't able to read the question and solve it at once. I used to struggle with trial and error.Which meant never have time to attempt all 31 questions on quants. That was about a month and 10 days back. Since then I've been working on my quants Concepts and LOTS of practice to engrave the concepts in my mind. I will update you here in 10 Days!

Thanks

Hey Sri07,

If that is the case, then I would recommend you to change your approach towards preparation. Practicing 'N' number of questions will not help you improve your timing. Struggling with time management is only a symptom. The actual problem lies somewhere else. To solve questions under optimum time, it is important that you learn the right methodology. Quant questions on GMAT do not involve much calculation. You have to identify what the question is actually asking and then work towards that. You can go through the following recording to understand the methodology used to solve DS questions.

I hope you got an idea of what I mean by the right methodology. There are certain strategies you have to follow while solving Verbal questions as well. You can find the relevant videos under the Youtube channel of GMATWhiz. So, I suggest you to focus on learning the methodology and then move to solving questions. Hope it helped! All the best :)

Your original question was:

"does anyone know how good the 800Score tests are?"

There hasn't been a direct answer to your question so far.

Some of the quant questions are not too bad. You can still improve your understanding by solving them. The verbal materials should be taken with caution as with all non-official materials.

I would advise you not to rely on scores from non-official tests and to simply use quant questions from these materials for additional practice.

Got it! I had a similarish view. Just thought I should discuss and re-confirm my thoughts here..with other GMAT Aspirants. Thanks for answering the main question! Appreciate :)

I think with GMAT the costlier the material the better :(

I think you should work on improving your overall quant and verbal skills before taking any more practice tests. You know what I mean?
