According to hotel guest statistics collected by the state Tourism Bureau, the town of Sunville is the most visited weekend destination in the state for out-of-state tourists. The Tourism Bureau also indicates that the Shadyville Inn in the town of Shadyville is the largest and most popular hotel in the state for weekend visits by out-of-state tourists. Shadyville is in the same state, but on the other side of the state many hours away by car. 
If the Tourism Bureau is correct in all of its statements, then it  must NOT  be the case that _______________.

A. the Shadyville Inn is the only hotel in Shadyville
B. the Shadyville Inn is the most expensive hotel in the state.
C. there is only one hotel in Sunville
D. there are at least two hotels in Sunville

B. the Shadyville Inn is the most expensive hotel in the state. -  this is irrelevant 
C. there is only one hotel in Sunville -  nothing mentioned in the paragraph 
D. there are at least two hotels in Sunville -  nothing mentioned in the paragraph 
E. visitors to the Shadyville Inn do not also visit Sunville on other weekend trips -  irrelevant

Your answer is correct but I am not clear with the reasoning part.

Nowhere number of hotel in Sunville is mentioned. It could possible that only one grand big hotel is there in Sunville and that hotel efficiently serves all the tourists who come to Sunville.

What is the error in the above reasoning. Thanks.

The above is important in the reasoning - the distance between Shadyville and Sunville is too long for people to stay in Shadyville and travel to Sunville. So it must not be the case that there is only one hotel in Sunville. There would be more so that the tourists can come and stay there. Out of all the choices this would be the most apt - I think its all about POE.

Therefore, Sunville town must have at least 2 hotels to resolve the paradox above: each of the two hotels (at least) of Sunville town has fewer tourists than Shadyville Inn of Shadyville town does, but the total number of tourists of the two hotels of Sunville town is more numerous than that of Shadyville Inn

Probably, all previous answers missed to point out this major factor that “the Shadyville Inn in the town of Shadyville is the LARGEST and most popular hotel in the STATE”

The quoted part says almost everything about this question. State has two most visited towns: Shadyville and Sunville. If Shadyville Inn is the LARGEST hotel in the STATE, there will NOT be only one hotel in Sunville because previous condition opts out that Sunville also has hotel with same capacity.

Therefore, only C says, it is NOT possible that Sunville has one hotel.

Different thought:
Probably C is not perfect answer. It is still possible that C has only one hotel because MOST of the tourists stay at relatives or at friends’ place.

Good Question: Here key is " hotel guest statistics collected by the state Tourism Bureau" According to Hotel guests list : Sunville is most popular in the state : --> More people stay in hotels(combined all hotels) than any other town. According to Hotel guest list : Shadyville --most popular hotel --> No of peopel stay in this hotel is greater than any other hotel in state. clearly Sunville : should have more than 1 hotel to surpass Shadyville hotel Guests count. Hope this helps you.
