Hi All,
Just want to quickly post my experience dealing with GMAX!
First, a brief overview of my gmat voyage.
I decided last year during the fall of 05, that I would start preparing myself to apply for business school during the fall of 06. I figured that I may as well get the gmat out of the way early on in the process, so I spent several months preparing on my own, and in the end felt confident that I would achieve a high score. However in December, i was devestated by the end result.
Score: 610 (43Q, 31V)
Not sure what exactly happened, but obviously not happy with the result (since I was aiming for 700+). I really did feel confident of the material, but I do classify myself as a poor standardized test taker (SAT, GRE...) since all my prevous scores I felt never reflected my true ability.
I talked to several people decided to sign up for a gmat class, and opted for Kaplan based on my friend's reccomendation. However a week before the first class I stumbled across GMAX through these forums and decided to give them a shot (and in the process saved $1200).
At first I was a little overwhelmed by the amount of content on the site, and the rigorous study that they required. I figured that it was worth it to go through everything, just to make sure I didn't miss anything in terms of preperation. Towards the end of the course, I decided to take practice tests every weekend and purchased the 800score tests. In addition I used the free software from pearsons and some priceton review tests that were available from a 2005 book that I had purchased earlier.
My scores were all over the place early on, but at some point something finally 'clicked' and my verbal score finally started to shoot up. My inital goal was to push my verbal score up to around 36 or 37. However, when i started to see scores 40+, I decided not to limit myself!
I finally finished all the videos and homework about 7 months after I started (Early Sept 06). And went through a two week stretch where I took practice tests every night.
Finally, I signed up for the test and finished it last monday (10/2).
Final Score: 710 (47Q, 41V)
I had finally achieved my goal of scoring 700+ and had GMAX to thank for it!!!
All I can say is that the voyage is finally over, and I can move on to apps!
