between A and C.. pick A.

C changes the degree of importance from "it is of some importance" to make it "it is important" which is more stricter.

It is similar to the changing of "May" to "Must".

A for me,

Didn't find anything wrong with A; every other choice introduces some error.

Hmm ... i went with C

why didnt you go by the riverside..its a pleasant view...

dude..explain your reason why you picked an answer..not really care what you went by...

You know, if you want people to add in more details to their answer, you probably should ask in a nicer way. A little courtesy and respect can go a long way, my friend.

Regardless, I chose C since the other options are either confusing or introduce errors. B is out immediately because it uses 'are', when 'is' is required. Eliminated 'D' because of 'them', which to me sounded like it could refer back to 'criminal records'. Same thing in E; 'they' could be referring to the banks or the applicants. Finally, with 'A', I just didnt like the 'some importance' part ... also, it sounded like 'necessary prerequisite' was redundant.

You're welcome

A.That every worker has a clean criminal record is of some importance to investment banks which is why a stringent background check is a necessary prerequisite for all of their job applicants
-- construction error
B.Clean criminal records of their employees is important to investment banks; hence, a stringent background check are necessary prerequisites for employment
-- records …. Is (subject verb agreement error)
C.Because they consider it important that all of their employees have a clean criminal record, investment banks require each job applicant to undergo a stringent background check
-- My Answer
D.It is of some importance that all investment banks’ workers have clean criminal records which is why many of them undergo stringent background checks
--- PRONOUN REFERENCE ERROR
E.The reason that investment banks require background checks of their applicants is because they require clean criminal records of their employees
-- again PRONOUN REFERENCE ERROR

IMO C.

Here's why...

C.Because they consider it important that all of their employees have a clean criminal record, investment banks require each job applicant to undergo a stringent background check.

1. They here, rightly modifies investment banks.

2. The use is require is correct. You require someone to do something...../ You request that someone do something....

3. You might say, It does not have a clear referent here, but use of 'it' is a little bit different is sentences such as these. For eg. It is hot today. What does 'it' refer to? But it is still correct.

4. Use of Subjunctive is correct. That....require....undergo...

Hope it helps...

A.That every worker has a clean criminal record is of some importance to investment banks which is why a stringent background check is a necessary prerequisite for all of their job applicants (which is worngly placed)

B.Clean criminal records of their employees is important to investment banks; hence, a stringent background check are necessary prerequisites for employment(a stringent background should be followed by is not are)

C.Because they consider it important that all of their employees have a clean criminal record, investment banks require each job applicant to undergo a stringent background check(My choice)

D.It is of some importance that all investment banks’ workers have clean criminal records which is why many of them undergo stringent background checks(a stringent background should be followed by is not are)

E.The reason that investment banks require background checks of their applicants is because they require clean criminal records of their employees (reason because redundancy)

A.That every worker has a clean criminal record is of some importance to investment banks which is why a stringent background check is a necessary prerequisite for all of their job applicants
Comment: It is wrong to have the "to be" verbs followed by a prepositional phrase. It's either adjectives or nouns that should follow the "to be" verbs.

B.Clean criminal records of their employees is important to investment banks; hence, a stringent background check are necessary prerequisites for employment
Comment: "records" is plural, so "is" is the wrong verb to use because it is singular

C.Because they consider it important that all of their employees have a clean criminal record, investment banks require each job applicant to undergo a stringent background check
Comment: No flaws

D.It is of some importance that all investment banks’ workers have clean criminal records which is why many of them undergo stringent background checks
Comment: Same issue as option a

E.The reason that investment banks require background checks of their applicants is because they require clean criminal records of their employees
Comment: "the reason" and "because" is redundant

hope this helps!! My choice is C

IMO its A

C has two issues

(1) Some importance to importance

(2) It might sound absurd, but it possible that all employees consider that their employees require clean background. Is that a bit of a stretch? Why do guys who picked C don't think that they can refer to employees.
