Sam thinks that the idea stinks and that Paul does too.

Going in line with willget800...Does the above sentence mean the same as the one below

Sam thinks that the idea stinks and Paul does too.

Any thoughts to be shared..??

i think the sentence you mentioned is ambigious. Hence the other two options to amek it clear.. thats the way i look into it..

maybe others have a different opinion

Sam thinks that the idea stinks and Paul does too. is ambiguous

but is it grammatically correct..

I am curious to know the usage of that in your original statement

Sam thinks that the idea stinks and that Paul does too.

I though it is redundant. Also interesting to see how the sentence can be framed in its original style to add a 3rd person eg:- Clara..

Sam thinks that the idea stinks and that Paul and Clara does too.

Not sure bit confused here.. :(
