IMO (B)
Eliminate A and D for using "like" here.
B correctly uses "such as" for examples.
C- Scientists have become able to provide.... Awkward construction.
E- ability....have become... (incorrect)

B is perfect. It has SV agreement and apt use of "such as".

IMO B.

This brings up very good question.

If we placed the bold in end of the sentence, does it also make it correct?

For example:
The ability of scientists has become ever more accurate in providing models of the atmosphere’s complex responses to changing conditions, such as seasonal and daily cycles or different planetary conjunctions.

The ability of scientists in providing models of the atmosphere’s complex responses to changing conditions, such as seasonal and daily cycles or different planetary conjunctions has become ever more accurate

I'm thinking no because the action needs to be as close to the subject as possible. Can someone shed some light here?

Thanks,
