Vote for D as well.

Trade is singular so use of "were" is not correct, so B is wrong.

"in which" is not the rt usage, so C & E are wrong.

Which leaves us with D

choice A--- in which is wrong

B---'its' earliest' beginning is not right

C---which was 'atleast ' 2nd millenium is very much wrong gramatically

E--too wordy...

Hence choice D is perfect

yeah, the only problem i do see with "D" is its usage of Present participle. I feel Perfect participle of "A" is correct here as the process of begining is over by now.

what do you say pals ?

Dharmin,

I feel in choice A.. the "in which " part doesnt match with second millenium, with years, we cant possibly use "in which" to denote some action. The correct usage is "when", hence choice D.

Thats true "when" is more preferable to "in which" for time part.

the OA is - "D"
