To demonstrate how 'unscientific' this method is:

River made 194 postings in the Calling Kellogg thread. That's 10 pages by river alone !!!

And guess who is the only person who beats river? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Rhyme made 209 postings in the Calling Chicago thread of last year. You are almost there, river!

Hmm .. interesting to see who has been most interested in which threads. Some of us heavy posters from 2007/2008 have been most active in:

river - Kellogg
mNeo - Columbia
kryzak - Stanford
prasad - Ross
aviroop - Chicago
nervous - Ross
kwam - Chicago

Know whats funny, I think until a few weeks ago I had more posts in the GSB thread. Heck I have tons of posts in schools I didnt even apply to.

Kry and I pretty much post 25% of everything on here everyday I think.

unscientific is how I would describe every ranking out there.

this is AWESOME mNeo! Another kudos to you!

Haha, river, man, I thought *I* was obsessed with Stanford/Haas (I think I contributed to many of Haas' posts too) :P

Scary, but it may be true, that 25% of posts are from river or myself... then again, it takes TWO of us to even come close to rhyme's volume this time last year, hee hee

if you need help compiling the number of applicants from each school, Stanford, Haas, and UCLA should have the count in the first post... Do normalize it by the school class size for a better comparison, though not like this is super scientific, haha! :P

Yea, but thats last year's thread... I think he already beat me for this year's thread. Or so I'd think anyway.

As mneo put my name out there :)

I suggest using the number of views rather than the number of posts. That way, we can filter through the posts by RR and Kry. I think there are a lot of lurkers who 'view' but not post. So...it does not change the rankings dramatically but makes for some interesting comparisons.

1. GSB ~24100
2. Kellogg ~16700
3. Wharton ~15000
4. Cornell ~ 13000
5. Columbia ~ 11500
6. Michigan ~ 11100
7. Harvard ~ 8500
8. Stanford ~ 8000
9. MIT ~ 7200
10. Haas ~ 6700
11. Tuck ~ 6000
12. Yale ~ 4600
13. UCLA ~ 4450
14. Stern ~ 4300
15. Darden ~ 4000
16. Duke ~ 3300

Does anyone notice that except a couple of outliers (such as Cornell), this ranking tracks the b-week rankings pretty darn well.

You could take it a step further and then divide get the ratio of views/class size or views/# applicants :)

wow. We may be on to something.

Reminds of the story about picking stocks by throwing darts and by using analysis (no offense to any quants out here).

Just a quick search:

Interesting paper on relationship between stock prices and sheep populations. I usually give this article (among others) to fresh graduates in my group to show just numbers as such mean nothing. I'm not posting this to make fun of rankings but to share a good read for people who are interested in quantitative analysis

Good, now I know which schools to apply to - and avoid the GMATClub competition :)

haha, why do you think I applied to Haas, UCLA, and Stanford? To avoid the competition :P

Though I did apply to Kellogg... I guess I'm in trouble there!

Updated the awesome awesome rankings on April 1st (Nice day to update the rankings). Harvard, Haas and NYU have made the biggest jumps. And Cornell is holding its ground at #5. I wonder why Cornell gets so much love at GMATClub. They don't have any Kryzak, River or Rhyme with them

Forget the USNEWS and BW rankings. These are the true GMATClub rankings for your B-schools.

DISCLAIMER: This is just a "popularity in GMATClub" ranking. The ranking is based on the number of pages of each school's "Pants pooping" thread. So the method is definitely not scientific (Look at how many pages Kellogg got just because of river  ). It's just interesting to see what schools get more interest at GMATClub. Now, I nominate dosa_don to come up with a better ranking - one based on the number of GMATClubber applicants in R1+R2.

ps, if your school is missing from the ranking, please feel free to add.

EDIT: Updated on April 1st (Nice day to update the rankings). As suggested by dosa, we are using the number of views for the ranking, not the number of posts.

1 43929 - Chicago
2 30731 - Northwestern (Kellogg)
3 (4) 25063 - UPenn (Wharton)
4 (3) 23872 - Michigan (Ross)
5 16238 - Cornell
6 16133 - Columbia
7 (9) 14706 - Harvard
8 (10) 12610 - Berkeley (Haas)

9 (7) 12558 - Stanford
10 (8) 11762 - MIT (Sloan)

11 9772 - Dartmouth (Tuck)
12 (14) 9201 - NYU (Stern)
13 (12) 9075 - UCLA
14 (13) 7191 - Yale

15 (16) 7035 - Virginia (Darden)
16 (15) 6886 - Duke (Fuqua)

I think we need to normalize these rankings. 8,000 of the Haas views are from Kryzak and 10,000 of the Kellogg views are from River. It's like the google pay-per-click dilemma. ;)

woohoo, Haas climbed the rankings again! :P

Oh c'mon, then we need to subtract 20,000 views from rhyme in the Chicago thread.

Ross did everything it could to climb the GMATClub rankings. It admitted all the vocal members of GMATClub (Praet, thank you for providing Ross the list of all vocal GMATClubbers). And still it dropped in rank.

saurabh357, dosa, branson, R.E.D, bherronp, ncprasad, ToDoorNot, kingKREEP, Darden2010, Shared Folders .... shame on you guys!!! Now go and view the Ross thread a few times!
