The area of the base of a tank is 100 sq. ft. It takes 20 seconds to fill the tank with water poured at rate of 25 cubic feet per second. What is the height in feet of the rectangular tank?

(A) 0.25

(B) 0.5

(C) 1

(D) 5

(E) 25

The volume of the tank is 20 x 25 = 500 cubic feet. Since volume = base area x height, we can let h = height of the tank, so we have:

500 = 100 x h

5 = h

Answer: D
