arithmetic mean of 6 numbers is 24. This means that sum of these 6 no.s is 144 . we are given that sum of 4 no.s is 96, hence the sumo other 2 numbers is 144-96= 48 and their avg is 24

Given: The average (arithmetic mean) of six numbers is 24. The sum of four of these numbers is 96.

Asked: What is the average of the other 2 numbers?

$$x_1+x_2+x_3+x_4+x_5+x_6=24*6=144$$

$$x_1+x_2+x_3+x_4=96$$

$$x_5+x_6= 144-96 = 48$$

Average of other 2 numbers = $$\frac{x_5+x_6}{2} = 24$$

The sum of the six numbers is 24 x 6 = 144, so the sum of the remaining two numbers is 144 - 96 = 48. Thus, the average of these two numbers is 48/2 = 24.
