The average (arithmetic mean) of six numbers is 24. If the sum of four of these numbers is 96, what is the average of the other 2 numbers?

A. 12
B. 24
C. 48
D. 72
E. 96

The sum of the six numbers is 24 x 6 = 144, so the sum of the remaining two numbers is 144 - 96 = 48. Thus, the average of these two numbers is 48/2 = 24.

\(Σ_6 = 24*6 = 144\)
\(Σ_4 = 96\)

Thus, \(Σ_2 = Σ_6 - Σ_4\)

Or, \(Σ_2 = 144 - 96 = 48\)

Hence, Avg of \(2\) Nos will be \(\frac{48}{2} = 24\), Answer must be (B)
