The average of two numbers is 2x. If one of the numbers is y, the other number must be:
Average = sum total/no. of units
2x = Total/2
4X = total

If one no. Is Y.
The other number will be =
4x = y + second no.
Second Number = 4x-y

Answer is E

IMO E

As said average of 2 number = 2
average = total / no. of terms
2x = total / 2
total = 4x

one number is Y , second =
4x = y + second no.
4x - y = second no.

Average of two numbers = 2x
Sum of two numbers = \(2 \times 2x = 4x\)

Now the sum of y and other number must be 4x
other number \(= 4x - y \)

if the number is taken as z
z+y = 2x*2
= 4x
z = 4x - y

Answer is E

sum = 2[2x]
y + q =2[2] x
q = 2[2] x - y
