total sum = 2XY
one no is Y
so other no ; 2XY-Y

$$2xy = y + a$$ { Where a = Other Number }

SO, $$a = 2xy - y$$, Hence Answer must be (A)

Let N denote the other number. We can create the equation:

XY = (Y + N)/2

2XY = Y + N

2XY - Y = N
