4 days with 45 degrees. T is the temp on the fifth day.
(45*4+T)/5=50

Sorry, still lost. How did you get this? Sorry for sounding really dumb!

The range is taken by subtracting the highest temperature and the lowest temperature. So for instance, if the highest temperature recorded is 50 degrees, and the lowest was 20 degrees, then the range is 30 degrees.

We're given that 45 degrees is the lowest recorded temperature in 5 days. To obtain the maximum possible range, the highest temperature recorded must be the largest possible figure. This is only possible if 4 out of the 5 days all record the lowest temperature, leaving the 5th day with the largest figure.

Thus, you have 250 - 45*4 = 70 degrees. This is the maximum temperature possible.

The maximum range is therefore 70-45 = 25
