Its A.

following the comma should be a clause.

C is wrong because of "...reaching....".

why reaching is incorrect ? '', reaching '' does not modify the Beagle?

Its a past tense event thats why it has to be "The Beagle reached England in October 1836". The rest of the clause that you see only modifies the Subject.

B - Ambiguity of the pronoun "which"
C - parallelism error.
E - parallelism error.
D - Modifier error.
A - Correct Answer...
