The car runs quieter when I add a more heavy transmission fluid.

(A) The car runs quieter when I add a more heavy transmission fluid.

(B) The car runs more quietly when I add a heavier transmission fluid.

(C) The car runs quieter when I add a more heavier transmission fluid.

(D) The car runs more quietly when I add a more heavy transmission fluid.

(E) The car runs quieter when I add a heavier transmission fluid

Run is a verb, so we need an adverb, where quieter is a comparative adjective. and fluid is a noun; so it needs an adjective. Both issues are correct only on option B. That's why I think B is correct.

How to choose between B and D ?

"er" form can be used when there is something to compare. Hence i thought D would be a better option.

Kindly help.

This is a fairly simple question when you are perfect with adverbs and adjectives.

Adverbs always qualify verbs, adjectives and other adverbs. Hence 'runs more quietly'.

Adjectives always qualify nouns. Hence 'heavier fluid'.

Hence 'B'
