Oof, this computation! Just wanted to show an alternative way of thinking through this problem without so much intense division. Noticing that many of the relationships between the unskilled and skilled workers are in direct proportion (1/3 the workers, roughly 1/3 the total wages), we can take that as a cue to use logic and estimation.

The wage of a skilled mason is double that of an unskilled mason. So if we had 45 skilled masons working 48 days, we’d expect double the wage: 31,050 Rs.

16 days is a third of that, so if we had 45 skilled masons working 16 days, they’d make a little over 10,000 Rs.

According to the problem, they make slightly over half that. So we need slightly over half of 45 skilled workers. That’s more than 20, but less than 30 — hence, answer C.
