The dimensions of rectangular cake are 11 inches x 7 inches x 6 inches.. The cake is to be wrapped in a sheet of aluminum foil so that the entire surface of the cake is covered. This question becomes relatively simple once we visualize how the sheet wraps around the cake.
Note, the dimension of the sheet in each option is different, i.e. no two options share the same value of length or breadth. We can use this fact to our advantage.
Let's focus on how the sheet wraps around the cake.
Imagine folding the sheet starting from point D → moving to point A → moving to point B → moving to point C → moving to point D.
Length traversed
= D to A → A to B → B to C → C to D = AD + AB + BC + CD
= 6 + 7 + 6 + 7 = 14 +12 = 26
Hence, one dimension of the sheet must be 26 inches.
From the available options, only option B has one of the sides of the sheet = 26 inches.

Can you explain why are we not taking out surface area of the cuboid (2(lb+bh+hl)) and then checking the area of the sheet that will be required to cover the cake?
