E. At least one of the shipments sent to Truax Construction last week was sent out before Friday.

The only shipments that were sent out on Friday were those of billing supplies. And one of the shipments sent to Truax did not consist of building supplies (since only three of them did). Logically, this shipment could not have been sent out on Friday.

Since no further shipments were sent out after Friday that week (due to the closure), it follows that that one shipment, at least, was sent out before Friday.

The answer has to be E.

Truax - 4 shipments - out of which 1 is not building supplies. All shipments sent on friday were building supplies. Hence at-least 1 of the shipments sent to Truax was sent before Friday since the company was closed on the weekend.

What is the OA?

100% E and OA is E

Since we know that 1 of the box wasn't building material that means one of the box was not sent on Friday. The reason is all the boxes sent on Friday was building material. Also, no shipment afterward Friday, so it has to be before Friday.

Responding to a pm:

Focus on each statement of the argument and ensure that you understand what it does and doesn't imply.

The five specially ordered shipments sent out last week were sent out on Thursday.
- Last week, there were 5 specially ordered shipments. These were all sent out on Thursday. It is possible that some other shipments were also sent out on Thursday.

Last week, all of the shipments that were sent out on Friday consisted entirely of building supplies,
- All Friday shipments were building supplies. No other shipments were sent on Friday but it is possible that some building supplies were sent on some other day.

Four shipments were sent to Truax Construction last week, only three of which consisted of building supplies.
3 building supplies shipments could have been sent on Friday or before. The other shipment could have been sent on any day from Monday to Thursday. (All Friday shipments were building supplies so the fourth shipment was certainly not sent on Friday). From this, we can say that E is correct.

E. At least one of the shipments sent to Truax Construction last week was sent out before Friday.

For these type of questions, it really helps to write down notes...

Thursday - All 5 Spl.Ord. Shipmnts of the week on this day only -------1
Friday - Only Build. Shipmnts. sent on this day -------2
No Sat, Sun -------3
Truax Const. - got 4 shpmnts.(3 Build. Shipmnts. + 1 someother) -------4

A. At least one of the shipments sent to Truax Construction last week was specially ordered.
- May not be coz we already wrote in line 4, "someother"- doesnot mean it has to be specially ordered

B. At least one of last week’s specially ordered shipments did not consist of building supplies.
- line 1 does not mention this at all

C. At least one of the shipments sent to Truax Construction was not sent out on Thursday of last week.
- May be but may be all were sent on Thursday based on lines 1 and 4

D. At least one of the shipments that were sent out on Friday of last week was sent to Truax Construction.
- The 3 Build. Shipmnts. + 1 someother received by Traux (line 4) may be sent on Friday or some other day

E. At least one of the shipments sent to Truax Construction last week was sent out before Friday
- Yeah...In line 4 the "someother " is obviously not sent on Friday. So this must be true...

Writing briefly will help a lot in these kind of questions. Or else we get easily lost. If you are a non native English speaker, it is easy to misunderstand the question or any logic in between if you dont write the notes for this question. Also, prethinking for this question helps.

I don't understand why the answer is "C".
C is saying that at least one of the shipments was not sent on Thursday. Why?
Truax Construction received four shipments and it is not mentioned anywhere that Thursday shipments don't have building supplies.
Maybe all the four shipments received by Truax(3 building supplies and 1 something else) were sent on Thursday.

I think E should be the answer because all the four shipments sent on Friday should be building supplies. According to the question,
only three were building supplies. Hence, one should be sent before Friday.

OA is "E" . The answer is wrongly marked as "C". This question is already discussed earlier !!

The OA has to be C. Truax got 4 shipments, 3 of them had building supplies. They sent out specially ordered shipments on thursday and building supplies on Friday. That has to imply that atleast one of those was sent out on Friday, and not on Thursday.

The OA is E since at least one of the orders was not sent on Friday(last day of work), then it must be sent before Friday. I agree that C could also be correct. There is a different version of this on the GMAT prep. Either the poster attempted to change the question or there was a mistake in the options.
