Do you guys see any gramatical error with E???

E) For consumers and businesses making a large number of long-distance calls, the government predicts that the recent telephone rate cuts that the Federal Communications Commission has made will greatly reduce costs

I think the 'blue' portions should be together to convey the meaning clearly. 'A' does that.

Hey vic...

B) The goverment predicts that costs will be greatly reduced for consumers and businesses that make a large number of long-distance calls by the Federal Communications Commission's recent telephone rate cuts
>> Passive voice!

C) The government's prediction is, for consumers and businesses making a large number of long-distance calls, costs will be greatly reduced by the recent telephone rate cuts made by the Federal Communications Commission
>> 'that' would have been better instead of 'is' to put a clause. Also, passive voice. Also, "costs will be greatly reduced by the recent telephone rate cuts made by the Federal Communications" is wordy!

D) For consumers and businesses that make a large number of long-distance calls, the government's prediction that the Federal Communications Commission's recent telephone rate cuts will greatly reduce costs
>> This is sentence fragment.

E) For consumers and businesses making a large number of long-distance calls, the government predicts that the recent telephone rate cuts that the Federal Communications Commission has made will greatly reduce costs
>> Please see the response above...

Thanks a lot Vivek. Like you, I used the same reasons to eliminate the wrong answers. POE.

The problem is that ... these sort of "wordy" and "passive" reasons to eliminate are not the most straight-forward or apparant reasons for POE. In exam conditions, it becomes doubly hard...

That is why I need some advice to make sure that I elimnate the choices with good reasons.

cheers!

I understand, me too, used to have this problem, but practice & participating in forum helps a lot. Answer the SC, don't worry about whether it's wrong or right, everybody learns :)

Hey Andy,

I'm yet to write GMAT :)
Thanks for the encouragement dude, half century looks a remote possibility, I get bogged down by few SCs still & of course I hate RCs!

What about you?
