For the first blank, we have to find the increase in the user's "category score." So, we have to be careful to note that, in the passage, the category score is defined as the following:
the sum of the scores on the 2 tasks in that category
So, the category score is the sum of two scores.
Now, we can answer this question quickly if we notice the following:
For all categories, the the total increase in category score was 40.
Attention: 15 + 25 = 40
Memory: 25 + 15 = 50
Planning: 20 + 20 = 40
Reasoning 30 + 10 = 40
So, the only factor that will affect the size of the percent increase in category score for each category is the base score, i.e. the sum of the pretest scores for the category.
So, the category with the greatest percentage increase in category score will be the one such that the sum of its pretest scores is lowest.
Just looking at the columns, we can quickly see that Planning has the two pretest bars such that their sum is the lowest. After all, Planning 1 has the lowest pretest bar of all, and Planning 2's pretest bar is only slightly bigger than the pretest bar of Memory 1, whereas the Memory 2 pretest bar is much bigger than the Planning 1 pretest bar.
So, Planning is the category with the greatest increase in category score.
Select planning.
Now, for the second blank, just divide 40 by the sum of the Planning pretest scores and multiply by 100 to get the percentage increase.
40/(20 + 45) × 100 = 40/65 × 100 = a little less than 2/3 × 100
The choice in the dropdown that is a little less than 2/3 × 100 is 62.
