Guys, any suggestions for a great online store for Lenovo Thinkpads?

Lenovo.com? The 25% discount offer is still effective.

On a side note - I made an order on May 25 and already today received an "order shipped" notification! Whoo-hooo! :-D

If anyone is looking for a Thinkpad- you can get a 35%-40% discount (basically at employee pricing):

https://www.lenovo.com/ibmspp/

passcode 536686

If the link does not work- copy the link instead of clicking through.

Sent in my order for an X61. ended up around $1270 with a 2 year warranty and a bunch of options. Estimated ship date is 7/14, so hopefully that'll be sooner.

They have 8-cell batteries again. :)

Need help from the Lenovo experts.

I have a T61 currently that we use at home but am looking to get one for school. So I have narrowed it down to T61 vs X61- which is easy to do once you have used a Lenovo.

But between the two:

X61: Really light and convenient to lug around school but lacks a touchpad. I have always used a touchpad and have not really used the nubby on my current T61 (more out of habit?).

So, I can get a decent T61 for $800 or a X61 for $1000 or so. So to the guys who have the X, is it that much lighter? Also, are there any other features in the X series that are not available on the T series?

the X series are MUCH smaller and lighter. But if you need the touchpad, you can consider the new lenovo series IdeaPad U110. That has a touchpad (which was a deal-breaker for me). It's probably not as sturdy as the Thinkpad series though.

I might just get the T61. If you are interested, look at the Dell XPS 1330- supposed to be a pretty good machine. I was a huge Dell fan before, but have been really impressed with the Lenovo's.

Questions on computer features:

1) Is the Intel® Turbo Memory hard drive cache think a gimmick or worth the $$$?
2) Any reason to upgrade to a 2.4 processor over the 2.1?
3) Do you really need the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN for home/school computing?

I think the Turbo Memory is only good if you have Vista. I've heard good things about it, but I'm getting XP with no plans on upgrading to Vista any time soon, so I didn't get that.

2.4 is faster, and if you're getting Vista, you'll need all the processing power you can get. :P But if you're ok with just Office stuff and XP, then 2.1 and 2.4 shouldn't make that big of a difference.

802.11N is not fully standardized yet, and you really don't need N, so no, that is not necessary.

Dosa, thanks for the link and the code - make a good difference on top of the current special that lenovo is running.
