VERITAS PREP OFFICIAL SOLUTION:

This subject-verb agreement problem rewards those who see that the subject of the verb "celebrate(s)" is "the group," a singular noun. Therefore you need the singular "celebrates," eliminating choices A and B. And while choice E fixes that particular verb, it introduces another subject-verb error with the plural "and honor" at the end of the choice.

When subject-verb agreement is a major decision point, very often pronoun agreement follows as another decision point. Choice D uses "their" as a pronoun to refer back to "the group" and is therefore guilty of a pronoun agreement problem. Choice C, which uses singular pronouns and verbs across the board to refer to the group, is correct.
