"Such as" is used when exemplifying nouns(task here). This eliminates A, B and E.
C is idiomatically correct.

I am not getting why option D is wrong. I would appreciate if someone could explain that.

(A) tasks like picking up coffee, clean up the office, and arranging meetings for executives

(B) tasks like picking up coffee, cleaning up the office, and arranging meetings for executives

(C) tasks such as picking up coffee, cleaning up the office, and arranging meetings for executives

(D) tasks such as pick up coffee, clean up the office, and arrange meetings for executives

(E) tasks like pick up coffee, clean up the office, and arrange meetings for executives

First of, we need "such as" to show examples. So, A, B, and E are out.

In C : "such as" is working as an adjective here, and in C it is correctly modifying noun phrases picking up coffee etc.

In D : Adjective "such as" is wrongly modifying verbs "pick, clean, and arrange".

Such as...... Brings in examples left with (C) and (D) !!

(C) uses correct parallelism structure, hence Answer must be (C)

The intern’s day-to-day duties varied considerably, but typically they included tasks such as
    picking up coffee,
    cleaning up the office, and
    arranging meetings for executives.

Hi,

thank you very much for the prompt reply, but I am still a bit confused. I can see the parallelism is present in option D also. why D is incorrect choice ?
