The comparison at the start indicates that two things are getting compared (the things getting compared are feature available in "proprietary browser and iTunes" and "any other application"). Hence to make the comparison parallel, we need to use IN in the conjunction, as is used in the last part "it does not support active web links IN any other application"

Hence, the correct form will be choice C

Using "except" in this sentence makes the sentence more natural and easier to understand, without the need for the word "but" because the clause expresses a simple exception and there is no obvious contrast that needs to be emphasized.
