Since the author mentions the fact that historically most faint galaxies have been discovered close to our own galaxy, and later suggests that more galaxies may soon be discovered, it can be inferred that the historical prevalence of faint galaxies to our own is due partly to our technology’s limits. Also, the author offers that “present survey data are not deep enough,” again indicating that faint galaxies have been discovered near the Milky Way is due to limitations of technology, not due to an astronomical phenomenon.
