Hello
does anyone has a clue on how to approach the following exercises
Right answer b plz the triangle is in the attachment
ty
20. In the right triangle PQS above, if PQ =3 and PS = 4, then
(A) 9/4
(B) 12/5
(C) 16/5
(D) 15/4
(E) 3/20
You can either work it out by algebraic equations or use the formula.
Height = side1*side2/hypotenuse = 3*4/5 = 12/5
If you work algebraically in gmat exam, you're doomed because solving the equations is gonna take you a lot of time.
suppose h=height , it falls on side=5, and divides it into x, 5-x
so h^2 = 3^2 -x^2
& h^2 = 4^2- (5-x)^2
Eliminate x and Solve for h, and you will get it = 12/5
IN EXAM Please DONT DO this way. Use the formula.
