welcome aboard dagrobo. No one's heard anything from R1. I think LBS, just like last year, will release all its interview decisions on one day.

I am a late entry here. Count me in for R1.
Did anybody hear about interviews yet?

Thought I'd share an article with you guys:
https://www.economist.com/displaystory.c ... d=12501762

It talks about the new MiM program at LBS. As some of you might know, LBS is on an expansion course:
- Launch of the Master in Management program (MiM): 100 new students, for straight out of college kids with 0 work ex, who will not compete with MBAs for jobs
- Increase in size of MBA program (320 to 380) by adding 1 more stream
- Increase in EMBA program (~15% or so)

The launch of the MiM is heavily debated on campus these days. Some say it's diluting the brand, will take up resources, cannibalize MBA enrollment later on, etc. The dean's argument for the MiM is as follows:
- More income for the school - LBS has a super low endowment compared to other top schools
- More alumni (which later could be useful for MBAs as well) - build scale
- No interfering with MBA (MiM is located off campus - no class sharing)

Aside from that, there's also a lot of construction going on (new student center, renovation, etc.), administrative departments are being moved off campus to create more space on campus for faculty and class/conf rooms (real estate is being purchased around LBS for this).

Good luck with the apps!

I'd like to wish all R1 applicants good luck for tomorrow. I for one am very very nervous and will be hiding in a corner at work checking my email every 5 minutes.

buff - that was brutal and I'm extremely sorry. Keep going - the admit will come - plenty of other great schools would love to have you. Although I'm amazed at why they'd ding you even without an interview; I thought you had a good chance.

Just got my interview invite as well -- I suppose I needed some good news today, considering I just completed a relatively mediocre first interview for INSEAD....

Congrats to all with invites, and good luck to those still waiting!

Agreed, bsd_lover -- I am quite surprised myself...

buffdaddy -- you certainly have been a valuable resource in the LBS-related threads, and I can honestly say I wouldn't have had as much enthusiasm for the school if not for your updates, information and thoughts. I know we're both on similar school paths and you have a very strong profile, so hopefully we may still meet each other during one of these admissions processes. :beer

I vaguely remember the interview rate being like 30-50%, but I could be confusing it with INSEAD.

Same here. I remember reading on the BW forums a while ago that LBS tends to be more selective for interviews, so here's to hoping it's true!
