My name is Brad and LBS is my top choice, followed by two US schools. I hope all my fellow 2011 LBS applicants can share their application progress on this thread much like the 2010 LBS thread. I actually attended an MBA fair last fall and spoke with the LBS staff and got the ball rolling then. Over the past 6 months or so it has become apparent that LBS fits what I am hoping to get from an MBA and I'm focusing my efforts accordingly. I checked today and it looks like they've put up the essay questions. I'm on vacation for the next month, so it will give me time to draft a couple first drafts. I've already read a couple MBA Admissions books and have a spreadsheet filled with my brainstorming for the general topics that appear on the essays. I'm still not sure whether I will use a consultant to review my essays or whether I will go the friends, family and colleagues route. Beside the obvious cost of a consultant I feel that drafting and editing myself is almost a matter of pride, ...or maybe hubris. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Hell... its a long day man!

Hmmm...I agree, it is going to be one hell of a night. But at least the silver lining is that LBS does not make applicants wait for days without clarity on what the results date is. I have really loved LBS in terms of their professionalism as compared to some of the top US b school. What to do you think?

I would agree partly. There are top US schools as professional as LBS. Also, I do not think that if a school does not have a FIXED date for sending out invites/results, then the school is unprofessional. It's just the way they work.

I dont know much about the US schools since Ive only applied to Haas so far; my experience with them during the class visit and the lunch with students etc was excellent. Everything was handled very professionally. The same however cannot be said about another European school where apparently despite the school requiring recommendations for consideration of the application, one applicant was invited for an interview even before his recommendations were complete!

All said and done, I prefer the LBS system of fixed date decisions anyday!

I agree with you and that is the reason I said 'some' of the top US b schools and not all of them. And on question of one fixed date, I believe it really depends on what their priorities are. And I won't buy the fact that 'its just the way they work' because every business process has to have a reason behind it, they have been born out of someone's mind. And personally, I don't see any merit in having decision release over a period of one week or more, which only causes tension and anxiety to the ones who are waiting and a large portion of whom would get a negative news. Releasing it one single day eases so many things out for the applicants. If its about its just the way they work then clearly they are not putting their future brand ambassadors at the centre of their decision making.

Just my 2 cents. I hope you won't take that personally.

heard from a current students that they normally start releasing decisions at around 5 pm london time and till goes on till late evening to night.........so looks like there is a lot of waiting left to do
