I was going through the McKinsey PST's and the GMAT IR seems to be similar in tone. I wonder how much inspiration GMAC drew from the PST's. Perhaps the PST's will be good practice for those who want to do really well in IR? Just a thought..

I totally see your point. The skills tested are obviously very similar. I haven't seen any examples of the McKinsey PST in a while. Would you link us to what you're using?

hey there...in my initial post, click on McKinsey and it will take you to the PST test page. On the bottom right, you will find three tests as well as 'coaching guide' to the tests...

That is an interesting similarity - I wonder if McK will start to see a lot more "skilled" PST results since GMAT is changing now.

I doubt that taking the IR will really improve on those skills specific to the PST/MC. Probably consistent practice on cases over time may lead to improvement. The one big similarity is the time crunch. Also do other MC's besides McK have tests like the PST for applicants? Was just wondering because I'm interested in and considering MC post MBA...

From my experience, it rather works the other way around. Having taken the GMAT is great help for solving the McK PST. Some question types are just very similar. However, for GMAT preparation the standard material is much more powerful.
