what is wrong with (A)
If "to" is omitted in the first place, it can be omitted again right?
I go with (A).

The mnemonic power of music helps the mind remember the words of songs and poems more accurately than remember prose.

A. than remember prose
B. than remembering prose
C. than it can remember prose
D. than to remember prose
E. remembrance of prose

C for me. The pronoun 'it' refers to mind and only then the sentence makes sense.
