Hey!
I'm working throught the MGMAT SC guide right now and need help with this sentence (p. 59/#6):
“The museum displays the work of a wide variety of artists, from those who are world-renowned to who are virtually unknown.”
My suggestion:
“The museum displays the work of a wide variety of artists, from those who are world-renown to those who are virtually unknown.”
Right answer from the guide:
“The museum displays the work of a wide variety of artists, from those who are world-renowned to those who are virtually unknown.”
Is this also okay or why is it wrong?

In this sentence we require an adjective that modifies 'world'. Hence the adjective renowned is used and is correct.
Renown is a noun and it would be incorrect to use it to modify world.
The meaning is the key.
Renown means fame
Renowned means famous.
Substitute the words in the sentence and you will know hat exactly to use. Hope its clear.
