The Nag Hammadi corpus consists of twelve ancient books, or codices (singular: codex), plus pages torn from a thirteenth, all discovered at the Nag Hammadi site in Egypt. In these thirteen codices, separate works known as tractates can be distinguished. Six tractates are inferior duplicates of tractates found elsewhere within the corpus. Another six tractates are already known from other sources in the original Greek or in Latin or Coptic translations. Nine more tractates are fragmentary, leaving 31 unique complete tractates.
For each of the following statements, select True if the statement can be shown to be true using the information provided. Otherwise, select False.

Sort by tractates.
Codex 6 has the most tractates overall, 8, but its unique complete is 8 - 0 - 2 - 1 - 0 - 0 = 5.
Codex 2 has the next largest count with 7, and its unique complete is 7 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 1 - 0 = 6, which is the maximum (since the next largest total is 5 and cannot exceed 6 unique).
The codex with the most unique complete is not the same as the one with the most tractates. So, this statement is False.
• There are more than four codices with no unique complete tractates.
Zero unique complete means that the number in the first column (Total Tractates) equals the sum of the other five columns for that codex. In such cases, everything is already counted as duplicate, known, or fragmentary, leaving no tractates that are unique and complete.
C4: 2 = 2 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0
C8: 2 = 1 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 1
C9: 3 = 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 3
C11: 4 = 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 4
Exactly four codices have zero unique complete, not more than four. So, this statement is False.
• The median number of tractates per codex is the same as the average (arithmetic mean) number of tractates per codex.
Mean tractates per codex = (total tractates 52)/(number of codices 13) = 4.
Median is the middle term when the 13 values are arranged in order, so the median is the 7th largest codex count, which is 4.
Mean equals median. So, this statement is True.
