How is it possible? "Due to" is used to modify nouns, no verbs, isn't it? and should be possible to be replaced by 'caused by', but in this example we cannot do this. Am I wrong? Smb pls explain :(

The pesticide Azocide, introduced to central valley farms three summers ago, has proven ineffective because other pesticides' chemical compositions already in wide use neutralizing its desired effect.

A.because other pesticides chemical compositions already in wide use

B.because of the chemical compositions of the pesticides already in wide use

C.due to other pesticides already in wide use, whose chemical compositions have been

D.since, due to the chemical compositions of the other pesticides already in use, those pesticides have been

E. because of other pesticides and their chemical compositions already in use, which have been
IMO C

In D use of 'due to' is wrong.
In E the meaning is changed. Pesticides are in use & not their chemical compositions.
A & B are not doing well with 'neutralizing'.
C goes perfect with 'neutralizing' & the second concern, 'due to', is correctly used.

Can any one please tell me why not Because of (e option is correct ) .I believe Due to only comes after To be verb ,but here i got confused with E

It is possible to dispute the OA namely C ; what is the cause of Azocide’s ineffectiveness? Is it the chemical compositions of the other pesticides or the other pesticides themselves? Text means to say that it is the chemical composition of other pesticides, while C says it is due to the pesticides, in effect changing the meaning substantially.
