“INSEAD is my dream school.”
We have seen this line quite a few times in MBA applications and forums.
And honestly, there’s nothing wrong with it. INSEAD is a dream school for a lot of people.
But I think there’s a bigger question applicants should ask themselves:
Why is it your dream school?
If the answer is mainly “because of the ranking, brand, strong consulting placements, international class, etc.”, it probably isn't enough.
Those things are reasons to research INSEAD. They aren't necessarily reasons why you need INSEAD.
A stronger way to think about it might be:
1. What are you trying to change or build in your career?
2. What does INSEAD offer that actually helps with that?
3. Why does the school's format make sense for you?
4. Why does its international environment matter for your particular goals?
