Probability that first player chooses any one gate = 1/8

Looks pretty good except for this part.

There are 8 gates. What does that say about the probability of picking a gate for the first player?

Probability will 1 since the 1st wizard can choose any gate

What the other two people are pointing out is right. In other words, the probability of the first person choosing Gate no 1 (or 2 or 3 or any other) is 1/8 but there are 8 such gates. So, that 1/8 must be multiplied by 8.

Each is an independent event. Any entrance entered into by any wizard will have no bearing on whether any of the remaining wizards can choose a certain entrance.

Probability is as follows:

Probability that Wizard 1 chooses a favorable outcome, which is entering through a door that no one has entered into yet: he can go into any door

8/8

AND

Probability that wizard 2 enters a door that wizard 1 did not enter:

He will have a 7 out 8 chance of doing so = 7/8

AND

Probability that wizard 3 does not enter either of the doors that wizard 1 and 2 entered =

6/8

AND

Wizard 4 = 5/8

Answer:
(8/8) * (7/8) * (6/8) * (5/8) =

(1) * (7/8) * (3/4) * (5/8) =

(7 * 3 * 5) / (8 * 4 * 8) =

105 / 256

Answer *D*
