B

x/y = 1/2

ie 2x=y

Also (x+2)/(y+1)=2/3

substituting for y we get,

x=4

(A) 6

(B) 4

(C) 3

(D) 2

(E) 1

\(\frac{x}{y}\) = \(\frac{1}{2}\) = \(\frac{z}{2z}\).....From here

x = z & y = 2z

Apply in the second ratio equation

\(\frac{x+2}{y+1}\) = \(\frac{2}{3}\)

\(\frac{z+2}{2z+1}\) = \(\frac{2}{3}\)

cross multiplication

3z + 6 = 4z + 2

z = 4 and hence x = z =4
