Answer choices B, C and E seem to have clear grammatical/logical mistakes. The difference between A and D seems to hinge on whether the course being offered by The Donald is two years long, or whether it's designed for students in a two-year course (which would have been much clearer had it been "program". Since two years seems a little long for an introduction course (or to listen to the Donald talk), I'd go A.

Hi,

B,C and E do not make any sense when you read them
Between A and D, it's D for sure for above mentioned reasons.

A) The real estate baron Donald Trump presented a comprehensive introduction to advanced negotiations designed for graduate students in a two-year course.
It reads "Advanced negotiations designed for graduate students" that doesn't make sense to me...IMO Designed the ed modifier should either be modifying comprehensive introduction or two year course

B) For graduate students, the real estate baron Donald Trump presented a two-year course, being a comprehensive introduction to advanced negotiations.
This says Donald Trump being a comprehensive introduction presented a two year course

C) A comprehensive introduction was in a two-year course by the real estate baron Donald Trump presenting to graduate students an introduction to advanced negotiations
Passive and Awkward plus it shifts the focus

D) In a two year course designed for graduate students, the real estate baron Donald Trump presented a comprehensive introduction to advanced negotiations.
Designed is properly placed...seems good to me

E) Presenting a comprehensive introduction, the real estate baron Donald Trump introduced advanced negotiations in a two-year course designed for graduate students.
change in meaning...This could mean that while donald trump was presenting a comprehensive introduction he introduced advance negotiation..IMO this is not OK

ein option A sounds like the advanced negotiations are designed for graduate students, but it makes more sense to say that the course itself is designed for grad students

The real estate baron Donald Trump presented a comprehensive introduction to advanced negotiations designed for graduate students in a two-year course.

A) The real estate baron Donald Trump presented a comprehensive introduction to advanced negotiations designed for graduate students in a two-year course.

This option states that the advanced negotiations were designed specifically for graduate students in a two-year course. This doesn't make sense.

B) For graduate students, the real estate baron Donald Trump presented a two-year course, being a comprehensive introduction to advanced negotiations.

Being is awkward. This sentence doesn't make sense. "the real estate baron Donald Trump presented a two-year course" is modifying "For graduate students"

C) A comprehensive introduction was in a two-year course by the real estate baron Donald Trump presenting to graduate students an introduction to advanced negotiations

The first part of this sentence kills any meaning.

D) In a two year course designed for graduate students, the real estate baron Donald Trump presented a comprehensive introduction to advanced negotiations.

This sentence appears to be the good one. I don't see any errors.

E) Presenting a comprehensive introduction, the real estate baron Donald Trump introduced advanced negotiations in a two-year course designed for graduate students.

Presenting a comprehensive introduction.. D.T. introduced/designed for.. Switching tenses.

I could be wrong on some of these comments as some of them sounded completely off and I immediately eliminated them. D seems far and above the most correct version of this sentence.

OA and OE after discussions

D for me.
E is incorrect for the use of introduction and introduced again. Redundant choice.
C - again redundant
B - Being is not required
A - comprehensive introduction to advanced negotiations designed - This can be ambiguous. Modifier for designed can be negotiations or introduction.

Hey Mates,

Updated the post with OA and OE. Good to see so many responses :-). Let me know, if you still have any doubts.

A) The real estate baron Donald Trump presented a comprehensive introduction to advanced negotiations designed for graduate students in a two-year course.

The original sentence suggests that Trump’s introduction covered "negotiations designed for graduate students." This is nonsensical; rather the course is designed for graduate students and covers the general topic of negotiations. This choice is a close second to (D).

B) For graduate students, the real estate baron Donald Trump presented a two-year course, being a comprehensive introduction to advanced negotiations.

Beginning the sentence with “for graduate students” is awkward and unclear. The verb phrase “being a comprehensive introduction…” following the comma seems to illogically modify “the real estate baron Donald Trump.” With the use of the unnecessary “being,” this creates the awkward suggestion that “the real estate baron” was “a comprehensive introduction.”

C) comprehensive introduction was in a two-year course by the real estate baron Donald Trump presenting to graduate students an introduction to advanced negotiations

This choice makes the meaning unclear in its use of many prepositional phrases with no punctuation: “In a two-year course” followed by “by the real estate baron Donald Trump” and later, “to graduate students” and “to advanced negotiations.” Also, the subject of this passive sentence is “a comprehensive introduction.” It would make more sense for Donald Trump to be the subject, since he was actively doing something: i.e. “presenting.” Finally, the use of "presenting" with the passive construction introduces a verb tense error; Trump is not currently "presenting" the course, rather, the course was presented by Trump.

D) In a two year course designed for graduate students, the real estate baron Donald Trump presented a comprehensive introduction to advanced negotiations.

Correct. The placement of the prepositional phrase “in a two-year course designed for graduate students” at the beginning of the sentence clarifies the meaning: a negotiations course was designed for the students. The construction of the rest of the sentence is clear and concise

E) Presenting a comprehensive introduction, the real estate baron Donald Trump introduced advanced negotiations in a two-year course designed for graduate students.

The use of both “introduction” and “introduced” is redundant: it suggests that Trump “introduced a comprehensive introduction.”

Hope this helps,

Vercules

D uses "two year course" while the other options use "two-year" course. I dont see what difference the hyphen actually makes here.
