The reason children play is because they enjoy learning about the world around them.

A. is because they enjoy learning about the world around them
B. is because to learn about the world around them, they must enjoy
C. is that they enjoy learning about the world around them
D. that they enjoy learning about the world around them
E. is because they find joy in learning about the world around them

Reason and because in the same sentence is redundant. Eliminate A, B, and E.
Between C and D
D is missing a verb which makes the whole sentence fragment without the subject-verb pair.

Answer is C

E. The reason children play is because they find joy in learning about the world around them

Option D has Subject verb agreement error, Subject has no verb follow to - hence eliminated
D. The reason children play that they enjoy learning about the world around them

Correct Option
