The reporter knew that the actress was very busy, but he wanted to know if he could ask her a few questions.

a) wanted to know if he could ask
CORRECT
b) would like to know if it’s ok asking
"if it is ok asking her" is not idomatic
c) requested if he can ask
"requested" is in the correct tense (simple past), "can" is not
d) requested to know if he could maybe ask
"maybe" is not necessary, makes the sentence wordy. Moreover "wanted to know" is better than "requested to know"
e) would know if he could be asking
"clube be a asking question" is wordy, and you always avoid awkward expressions. A is more clear and concise

Hi,
Is the usage of "if " correct in this way? Shouldn't "whether" be used instead?

isnt it wrong to use conjunctive in an if clause?
