Dear Shree9975,
I'm happy to respond, my friend. In this problem, Statement #1 is definitely not sufficient, because both positive and negative roots are possible. You are confusing something that many students confuse, a very subtle distinction that I discuss in this blog: https://magoosh.com/gmat/2012/gmat-quant-roots/ Read that blog very carefully, and I think it will resolve your confusion on this point.
