(a+b)^2 - 2ab = 173
(a+b) = (173 +2ab)^1/2

nearest squares 196 -->14 196-173= odd number will not work
225--->15 = 56 ---> compare with 2 ab, ab can be 13 and 2 only.

So the answer is 15 which is c

The sum of the squares of two prime numbers is 173. What is the sum of the two prime numbers?

\(A. 5\)

\(B. 8\)

\(C. 10\)

\(D. 15\)

\(E. 16\)
Sum of 2 Odd numbers is always an Even number, Except when one of the number is Even (ie 2)

\(173 = 2^2 + x^2\)

Or, \(x^2 = 13^2\)

So, \(x = + 13\)

Thus sum of the 2 numbers will be \(+15\) , \(- 11\), Among the given options only possible correct Answer is (D) 15
