(a+b) = (173 +2ab)^1/2

nearest squares 196 -->14 196-173= odd number will not work
225--->15 = 56 ---> compare with 2 ab, ab can be 13 and 2 only.

Sum of 2 Odd numbers is always an Even number,   Except when one of the number is Even (ie 2)

173 = 2^2 + x^2

Or,  x^2 = 13^2

So,  x = + 13

Thus sum of the 2 numbers will be  +15  ,  - 11 , Among the given options only possible correct Answer is (D) 15
