We know that an animal cannot be both a Dog and a Cat.
For the 8 households that have both Dogs and cats there is a total of \(3.25 * 8 = 26\) Dogs and cats
So \(8\) households = \(D +C = 26\)
Total Dogs in Dogs only house = \(16* 1.5 = 24 \)
Total Cats in Cats only house = \(24*1.25 = 30\)
So overall total Cats and Dogs \(26 +24+30= 80\)
We also know overall ratio of Cats to Dogs is \(5 : 3 \)
Hence \(8x = 80\)
\(x= 10\)
Total dogs \(= 10*3 =30\)
