regarding question number 2.
When you say category, it means within domestic or international right?
like the change in domestic cargo in year X vs domestic cargo in year X+n and Not any type of cargo in subsequent years.

So when I compare I should have sorted year first then sorted domestic/international. after that should start analyzing.

Yes.

While I dont aim to get into hair- splitting - if i go by the literal sense
1. " decrease in flights for any category from 2005 to 2010"
Wouldn't I have 10 values of 2005 ( 5 for domestic and 5 for international) to compare with 10 values of 2010 ( 5 for domestic and 5 for international) - from that i pool i generate the greatest % decrease - highest of value in 2005 and lowest in 2010 to have highest % decrease and
2. " for largest percentage increase in flights for any category"
lowest of the 10 values in 2005 and highest in 2010 to have highest % increase.

And then compare?

Do we need some re-phrasing of words in the question to rule out any ambiguity as in defining what is meant by "each category"? or in the current scheme of things - it is quite clear and I need to really to change the way i interpret?

“Category” here means each column type (Charter, Cargo, Commuter, Non-Revenue) for Domestic and International separately. So there are 8 categories, not pooled totals. No re-phrasing is needed, the official solution’s interpretation is correct.

In Statement 3 dont you think it should be given that total number of domestic and int flight in that year?
Bunuel

Official Solution:

Statement 1

A direct correlation means that as one variable increases, the other also increases, or as one decreases, the other decreases—they move in the same direction. Between 2005 and 2010, the number of domestic non-revenue flights followed the pattern: down, down, up, down, down. During the same period, the total number of domestic flights followed a different pattern: up, up, down, down, down. Clearly, there is no direct correlation between these numbers. Therefore, this statement is False.

Statement 2

The greatest decrease occurred in International Charter flights, which dropped from 1,266 to 188—a decrease of approximately 85%. The greatest increase occurred in International Commuter flights, which rose from 5,209 to 7,714—an increase of approximately 50%. Therefore, this statement is True.

Statement 3

In 2005, the number of international cargo flights was 14,380, while the combined total of all international and domestic flights was 119,706 + 230,242 ≈ 350,000. Clearly, 14,380 is less than 10% of 350,000. Therefore, this statement is False.

Correct answer:

From 2005 to 2010, there was a direct correlation between the number of domestic non-revenue flights and the total number of domestic flights. "False"

The largest percentage decrease in flights for any category from 2005 to 2010 is greater than the largest percentage increase in flights for any category from 2005 to 2010. "True"

In 2005, international cargo flights represented more than 10% of the total number of international and domestic flights combined. "False"

The statement starts with “In 2005,” so it already sets the time frame, so everything that follows refers to that same year. There’s no need to repeat “in that year.”
